Session Overview
HIGHLIGHTS
-Rowers must have previous rec rowing experience within the last 5 years. No novice rowers permitted this year.
-Members can join any available spot on our members-only sign-up page. Sign up as a crew or as an individual, your choice!
-There will not be any race nights, BBQ's or banquets – however, the Henley Island Helpers (HIH) patio may be open some nights to purchase food and drinks. We also encourage crews to visit our sponsors and safely socialize as permitted by provincial and regional health guidelines.
-We currently have 4 nights a week that we can use the course (more details below). Depending on number of registrations and availability, we may be able to increase these time slots.
COVID-19 Safety protocols are in place:
Everyone must sign in upon entry to the island and masks must be worn while on the island.
Boats must be fully washed/cleaned/dried/sanitized after every use. We will supply buckets and soap, rowers must bring their own towels to clean and dry the boats and oars each time.
No spectators or anyone other than the rower allowed inside the rowing compound.
No intermingling between crews and must stay socially distanced while on the island.
No switching of rowers during scheduled rowing time. You must commit to your assigned seat for the duration of your practice.
Rowing is permitted between 6-7:30pm and boats must be off the water by 7:30 to be washed, cleaned, dried, sanitized by 8pm.
MAXIMUM of 10 members (8 rowers + 1 coxie + 1 safety person) allowed on the island during scheduled rowing time.
Cox boxes will be available. You can sign out from the onsite Rec Rowing Representative.
Any damage to boats or equipment must be reported to the Rec Rowing Representative onsite or to [email protected]. It helps us maintain our equipment and ensure it’s available for use each time.
You must have designated safety person (coach). Crews and members are welcome to recruit their own safety person but this person will be subject to Rec League approval and will require a boating license and First Aid. If a crew requires a coach/safety person we can assist with providing one.

Sign Up for Available Time Slots
Once you register (pay your 2021 Membership Fee and register with Rowing Canada), you will be provided access to a members-only sign-up page for you to sign up to a crew on specific nights (Tues, Weds, Fri, Sat 6-8pm).
You don’t need to row with the same people each time, but you do need to commit to the crew that signs up for each time slot.
Put a call out on our Facebook page if you need help filling a boat.
Be fair, don’t sign up for timeslots you cannot attend!
Reminders for all members for each rowing slot:
- Bring a towel to clean and dry your boat
- Sign in upon arrival (see the onsite Rec Rowing Representative) and pay your pay-as-you-row fee
- Wear a mask while on the compound (can be removed once you’re seated in the boat)
- Practice physical distancing whenever possible. Stay within your designated crew of 10.
- Avoid mingling in parking lot, compound, near boathouses and dock.
